Friends in the City: Watch Women on the Verge – Finishes 23 May

Posted on: April 29, 2015 4:56 pm

Recently I went to see an amazing musical called Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown at the Playhouse Theatre. (us mummy’s can relate to this)

My friend Simone bought the tickets and assured me it would be brilliant as it has Tamsin Greig (Green Win, Jumpy, God of Carnage) and Haydn Gwynne (The Audience, Billy Elliot). As I live in a bubble these days I hadn’t heard of these actors/actresses before, probably because I don’t get to watch that much TV anymore, and also hadn’t been to the theatre in ages.

I agreed to go along, mostly as it sounded intriguing and my friend Simone is single and much more in the know then me these days (and her taste is pretty impeccable).

The story is centred around one (1) lady called Pepa. It is set on the streets of Madrid, a city pulsing with art, industry, and passion, Pepa’s world is unravelling. Her lover leaves her. And then she meets his wife. And his son. And his new girlfriend. Meanwhile, Pepa’s best friend is tangled up in her own romantic crisis, leaving Pepa with only the taxi driver to help navigate the Gran Via ahead.

From the second the curtain opened I was captivated and by the end of the story I had to wipe away a tear or two. I walked out of the theatre feeling young and free having had a great night out.

I highly recommend you grab a few friends and go out into London, grab a couple of glasses of wine, some nice dinner and watch a fantastic musical that makes you feel great. A story that will keep you and your friends talking for ages.

The show ends on the 23rd May – so hurry! You can book your tickets here:
